Chisinau, 26 May, 2023 - The Minister of Culture, Sergiu Prodan, and the country representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in the Republic of Moldova, Maha Damaj, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide technical assistance in promoting the rights of children and adolescents, social cohesion, and the culture of peace through cultural activities and products.
According to the document, the Ministry of Culture and UNICEF will collaborate to ensure the rights of all children and young people in the Republic of Moldova, promoting behavioral and social changes through innovative artistic products. They will also undertake joint actions to raise awareness and inform the public about gender-based violence, thus contributing to the prevention of violence against girls, boys, and women.

They will support art projects for children and adolescents, including drama education, and facilitate access to cultural activities in various languages for disadvantaged boys and girls.
Based on mutual trust, UNICEF Moldova and the Ministry of Culture have joined forces to strengthen the child protection system and promote children's rights. This objective will be achieved through the implementation of cultural and artistic projects that promote social cohesion, zero tolerance for gender-based violence, and the empowerment of prevention and response mechanisms against violence targeting children, as well as women, from Moldova and Ukraine.
