At Gamal Abd El-Nasser Primary School in Fayoum governorate in Upper Egypt, a couple of weeks before the end of 2022’s summer vacation, teachers and children organized an art exhibition as part of UNICEF-supported summer camps to raise awareness on climate change for the first time in the governorate.
At the exhibition, we met 12-year-old Jana. Born and raised in Fayoum, the young girl is described by her friends and teachers as clever and multi-talented. On this day, we learned about a new aspect of her personality: her interest in environmental and climate issues.
We also met George, 10, who lives the same city and was generous enough to accompany Jana in taking UNICEF team on a tour of the exhibition.
During the tour, they shared with us their views on environmental and climate issues in their own words, which we share with you in this photo essay.
