Hannan Sulieman, Chief of Staff

Hannan Sulieman

Ms. Hannan Sulieman was appointed Director and Chief of Staff, UNICEF, in April 2016.

Prior to this appointment she served as UNICEF’s Deputy Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, based in Amman.

With 23 years of service in UNICEF, Ms. Sulieman has extensive expertise in programme management, emergency response, resource mobilisation and partnerships. She was Deputy Representative, UNICEF Somalia during the tragic famine of 2011 and coordinated the programme response. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Representative, UNICEF Egypt and Senior Liaison Officer/Advisor to DSRSG, Afghanistan during a critical period of transformation there. She has also served in various HQs functions.

Ms. Sulieman is a dual national of Sudan and the United Kingdom. She holds a Bachelor of Biology and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management.

She speaks fluent Arabic and English.
