What: Opening of Children Are the Most Precious Thing in the World, an exhibition of photos by children from Beslan

When: 14.30, Friday, 26 August, 2005 (exhibition runs until 9 September).

Children from Beslan will unveil photos of their lives at the Beslan Cultural Centre on Friday, 26  August, 2005. The photos – moving, inspiring, humorous and sad – are the result of a photo workshop organized by UNICEF (22-28 July).

Thirteen children, aged 13 to 18, five of whom were hostages during the siege of School Number One, learned about photography and writing from photographer Giacomo Pirozzi and journalist John Varoli before producing their own photographs and stories. Some 100 of their photographs will be on display at the Beslan Cultural Centre, together with examples of their writing, from Friday, 26 August to Friday, 9 September.
