Jean Gough, Regional Director, Region of South Asia

Ms. Jean Gough took up the position of UNICEF Regional Director for South Asia in September 2016.
Prior to her appointment, she was UNICEF Representative to Nigeria coordinating the management of four field offices covering the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory. She represented UNICEF in all aspects of the organization’s collaboration with the Government of Nigeria, and had oversight of the development, formulation and management of the extensive UNICEF Country Programme of Cooperation.
Ms. Gough has worked in UNICEF since 1993, holding various management positions including Deputy Regional Director of the Latin America and Caribbean Region, and Representative to the State of Palestine and in Barbados.
She is a national of Honduras and an engineer by profession. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Water Resource Management from the Arizona State University. She is a mother with one son.
