Mr. Christopher Klein-Beekman is seen here (far right, white shirt) in an impromptu meeting in the tent where he and other UNICEF male staff were staying in the first months after the war, at the main United Nations facility – the Canal Hotel – in Baghdad, capital of Iraq. The gathering, at close to midnight on the night of 15 May 2003, was led by UNICEF representative in Iraq, Carel de Rooy (centre, background).  On 19 August 2003, UNICEF Programme Coordinator in Iraq, Mr. Klein- Beekman, was one of many UN staff members who were killed when a blast tore through this same UN compound. Mr. Klein-Beekman was Officer-in-Charge of UNICEF in Iraq at the time of his death.
