A new UNICEF Representative to the Maldives assumes office
Malé, 14 February 2023 – The newly appointed UNICEF Representative to the Maldives, Dr. Edward Addai assumed office today after presenting his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Abdulla Shahid.
He has over 30 years of professional experience and is originally a public health physician with specialization in the areas of policy analysis, planning, monitoring and evaluation.
He started his career as a clinician and district medical officer in Ahafo Ano South, a small district in Ghana and later moved ahead to become the Director of Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in Ghana.
He was most recently serving as the UNICEF Representative to the African Union and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Prior to this, he filled the position of Regional Chief of Programme Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa. He was previously the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation in the Global Fund and also worked with the WHO African Region as a Technical Officer – Planning, Programming and Evaluation.
He is a national of Ghana and is known to be a systems thinker and an expert in programme design and results-based management.
