The bond between a mother and child is a powerful relationship that remains for life. To support this bond, proper nutrition is a powerful good: children who are well nourished are more likely to be healthy, productive and able to learn. Good nutrition benefits families, their communities and the world as a whole.

Mother's milk is a baby's gold start in life, and its benefits extend well beyond basic nutrition. In addition to containing all the vitamins and nutrients a baby needs in the first six months of life, breast milk is packed with disease-fighting substances that protect babies from illness.

Just as it is important for babies, breastfeeding is also good for the mother's health. And it feels good too. Breastfeeding helps a mother and baby form a close, loving relationship. Just as mothers benefit from this closeness, the close contact and attention help infants feel secure and loved, which is important for their growth and development.

This Mother's Day, UNICEF Malaysia invites you to join us and toast mothers for the love and nutrition they give their children.
