UNICEF in action


In light of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, UNICEF is appealing for US$ 14.3 million to respond to the immediate humanitarian needs of children and their families. We have/will undertake the following actions to help respond to their needs:

Water, sanitation and hygiene

§ Supply 1,500 adult hygiene kits serving 3,000 people and 1,000 baby hygiene kits

§ Carry out water tankering for communities whose access to water has been disrupted

§ Supply water purification chemicals

Health and Nutrition

§ Provide 13 essential drugs urgently needed to the Ministry of Health

§ Procure the fuel to sustain the cold chain system for expanded immunisation

§ Provide 18 types of medical supplies such as syringes, needles, gauzes and gloves

Child Protection

§ Supplied 60,000 educational booklets for caregivers, informing them on how to protect their children in times of danger

§ Developed four radio spots airing on unexploded ordnances (UXOs) risk education

§ Invest in psychosocial support for at least 25,000 children and their caregivers

Education and Adolescent development

§ Provide early childhood development kits and recreation kits for children displaced to UNRWA (or public) schools serving as shelters for children.

§ Support specialised activities for 20,000 adolescents through adolescent friendly spaces to enable them to express themselves positively and better cope with the current situation.
