Highlights

This brief summarizes the key findings of the 2018 Child Poverty Study undertaken by the National Statistical Office in collaboration with the Department
for Economic Planning and Development in the Ministry of Finance and UNICEF to measure multidimensional child poverty. This is the second time a study of this nature is undertaken in Malawi. The first was conducted in 2016. The brief also outlines topline recommendations on what could be done to tackle child poverty in Malawi in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (Sustainable Development Goal 1), and the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy III (MGDS III).
