Official ceremony for the endowment of computer equipment to the central administration of the Ministry of Public Health

Antananarivo, 02 August 2022 – UNICEF officially hands a batch of computer equipment over to the central administration of the Ministry of Public Health in Ambohidahy. This support is part of improving the efficiency of this department in the implementation of the strengthening of the health system in Madagascar.
Faced with this new approach, the areas considered as priorities are Community Health, Primary Health Care (PHC) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). For UNICEF, the actions mainly carried out in this regard relate to the development of early childhood by supporting the delivery of essential services in the areas of health, nutrition, education, child protection, water, sanitation and hygiene as close as possible to communities to give children a better start in their lives and strengthen their resilience.
The delivery of 29 computers and 1 printer will allow the Ministry to demonstrate its full potential to produce concrete results for the Malagasy population. This is further support as UNICEF has played a key role in assisting the Malagasy government in mitigating the secondary impact of the COVID19 pandemic while safeguarding/maintaining the supply of essential health services, and ensuring access to basic health services and the use thereof are maintained.
UNICEF is also the key partner of the Ministry of Health for the procurement, distribution and supply of several COVID19 vaccines, medical oxygen and oxygen generators. UNICEF support has covered the following areas: advocacy, coordination support, drafting and adaptation of health policies and guidelines to the COVID19 pandemic, risk communication and community engagement (RCCE), as well as the purchase and distribution of large quantities of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure the safety of health workers in Madagascar.
