Intro for Core Recommendations

The Core Recommendations for Strengthening the Child Protection System in Lao PDR is developed based on the findings from the Assessment of the Child Protection System in Lao PDR, which was a participatory process and involved child protection-relevant sectors, international organisations, and civil society organisations, including UNICEF, Friends International, World Vision, Save the Children International, Plan International, Child Fund, Sengsavang, SOS Children’s Villages with technical support from Child Frontier. The assessment was conducted under the leadership of the National Child Protection and Assistance Committee (CPAC) and the technical working group, including representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MOLSW) and relevant government sectors. Data collection, researching relevant data sources and several consultation meetings at the national and local levels were conducted. The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare endorsed the assessment as a chair of the Child Protection and Assistance Committee. The working group that developed the assessment document has developed this core recommendation based on the relevant policy, law, and legislation, structure of the child protection system, child protection responsive service and the promotion of child protection work, coordination and collaboration between relevant sectors and resources for child protection.
