Preparation of a general recommendation on the trafficking of women and girls in the context of global migration

Highlights

Under article 21 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the Committee is mandated to develop general recommendations with the aim of clarifying the obligations of States parties to combat discrimination against women and girls in the current context. This document contains the most relevant contributions of the experts in the Latin American and Caribbean region, who, together with members of the United Nations agencies, met between May 6 and 15, 2020, to raise contributions to General Recommendation No. 38 (2020),  on trafficking in women and girls in the context of global migration. It also includes the voice of women survivors of human trafficking who, from their valuable contribution, allow us to better understand this phenomenon and develop recommendations.
