The story of Carla, Juan, Dairilys, Rubén and their families reflects the life of millions of Venezuelans who crossed borders and left their homeland in search of better opportunities. UNICEF works alongside local partners in the hosting countries to ensure that children and adolescents have access to their rights, regardless of where they go.

Like hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan children and adolescents, Rubén had to migrate without being able to continue his studies, seeing his right to education suspended. His dream is to return to school and study automotive mechanics. Thanks to the intervention of UNICEF and the commitment of the States, now he is about to enter the educational system to finish his studies in Peru.

Miguel is lifted up in arms by his mother Carla, on the banks of the Mazaruni River, in Bartica. Carla is a Venezuelan who migrated to Guyana in 2017 in search of a better future. After some dark clouds, the sun begins to rise and a rainbow forms.

For a single woman, moving to a new country implies facing several risks. Carla's journey was a challenge. She suffered abuse and gender-based violence, while settling in a new country. With the support of UNICEF and its partners, she made it through and began a new life with her son.

Juan David Rincón (13) and Dairilys Maurera (16) are two teenagers born in Venezuela, who migrated to Colombia in 2019 along with their families. They both live in Cúcuta, on the border with Venezuela.

As an adolescent, arriving in a new city, adapting and understanding the dynamics of an unfamiliar country is a challenge. UNICEF supports the integration processes of young migrants. Through projects such as those of Moiras Foundation and EACANA, it offers safe spaces to support them with educational and didactic activities.
