Yukie Mokuo is the UNICEF Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic. She is based in Bishkek. In this position, she is responsible for planning, coordination and evaluation of a broad range of UNICEF programmes, both developmental and humanitarian, benefiting the status of children and women in Kyrgyzstan.
Prior to her appointment as the UNICEF Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic, Ms. Yukie Mokuo served as the UNICEF Representative in Ukraine from 2009 till 2014 and the UNICEF Representative in Tajikistan from 2001 till 2009.
Ms. Mokuo joined UNICEF in 1995 and worked in country offices in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; Pristina, Kosovo; and Podjorica, Montenegro.
Ms. Mokuo is a national of Japan. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the Japan Women’s University, Master’s degree in Regional Planning/International Development from Cornell University in the United States. She is married with one daughter.
