On 20 November 1989, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), establishing one set of fundamental rights for all children and young people. Today, the CRC is the most widely ratified human rights agreement in the world. For the 20th anniversary of the Convention in November 2009, UNICEF will launch a new website with youth-friendly news and information on its achievements to date – and the many challenges ahead.
