Highlights

UNICEF operates in Kyzylorda and Mangystau regions within the frames of the Joint Programmes of the United Nations and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2014-2016. The framework programmes has been developed by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, represented by the Ministry of the National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Akimats of Kyzylorda and Mangystau oblasts, together with seven UN agencies: UNICEF (UN Children's Fund), UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund), UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), WHO (World Health Organization), UN Women (UN Structure on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women) and UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) for 2014- 2016.

The main aim of the joint programmes is to improve the quality of life in oblasts through the introduction of innovative approaches to the provision of economic, social and environmental services to the local population, particularly to the most vulnerable population groups. In the framework of joint programmes, UNICEF, in collaboration with local partners, carries out extensive work to promote well-being and protection of children and young people.
