Highlights

Report on the Assessment and Documenting of the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Good Practices for Children’s Resilience in Kazakhstan was prepared as a result of the assignment aimed at assessment of the effectiveness, relevance and sustainability of DRR programme in the best interest of children in Kazakhstan, and documenting good DRR practices in the country. The outcomes and recommendations are being shared among the regions and beyond the borders. The main components of DRR programme development, the main barriers, bottlenecks were assessed and recommendations to address them identified. Contribution of the DRR programme towards the Sendai Framework on DRR for 2015-2030, Worldwide Initiative for Safe Schools, SDGs, as well as to the national agenda (State Education Development Programme for 2011-2020, National Action Plan for development of the functional literacy of schoolchildren in 2012-2016, Action Plan on implementation of priorities in education and science for 2014-2016 and Inter-sectoral action plan on ensuring safety of schoolchildren for 2015-2016) was assessed.

Policy brief is a short version of the report on the Assessment and Documenting of the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Good Practices for Children’s Resilience in Kazakhstan. The Brief includes key points on the relevance, background information, objective, scope and methodology, key assessment findings, policy implementation and examples from the field, lessons learnt on Disaster Resilience of Children, key recommendations and conclusions.
