Highlights

In 2018 UNICEF Kazakhstan, in partnership with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Investment and Development, and the Centre for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (CESDRR), and with support from UNICEF’s Office of Innovation, launched the “Emergency preparedness and response using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones)” programme. This work aimed to raise awareness of the potential for drone use in a humanitarian capacity in Kazakhstan and to share experiences from other countries that could be adapted to the Kazakhstan context for emergency preparedness and response to improve and save lives, especially targeting the most vulnerable.
