Highlights

  • Makani ('My Space') is an integrated programme that links interventions in education, child protection, adolescent and youth engagement and participation. The Makani programme provides comprehensive services to marginalized and vulnerable children and adolescents aged 0-18 years and their caregivers in a safe environment.
  • These standard operating procedures aim to help UNICEF employees and partners implementing Makani programme in Jordan by providing the necessary knowledge to support the implementation and engagement of the programme, as well as provide readers with the basic principles and procedures for running the Makani programme. In particular, this manual seeks to broaden and enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes of front line employees and volunteers in Makani, and enable them to respond to the needs of children.
  • The manual is also considered a practical tool for UNICEF partners and organizations wishing to adopt the Makani concept. It covers all developmental and operational aspects and provides an adequate model for host communities and refugee camps.
