Beit Souf: a Social Enterprise Success Story
Women- and youth-led programme to facilitate a learning-to-earning pathway in the North of Jordan
Highlights
- UNICEF Jordan’s vision is to contribute to building an enabling environment for youth and adolescents to become active and effective participants in the national economy. UNICEF Jordan supports the programme, Women and Youth-Led Social Enterprises in Jordan, which seeks to develop a scalable community-led economic development model by building the capacity of community-based organizations to become self-sustainable.
- In addition to strategic development, UNICEF provided market expansion support to Beit Souf, which included support in marketing and sales, ad hoc training, local business support, and knowledge transfer. The market expansion support included training from external technical and business consultants, which directly improved their business growth. UNICEF facilitated Beit Souf’s growing collaboration with several private sector companies.
- Beit Khairat Souf is a multi-faceted social enterprise offering a restaurant, a food product store, and serving as a vital community-hub. The goal of this social enterprise is to create a platform for local women in Souf, Jerash to support themselves financially.
