The Ministry of Health and UNICEF Iran hold Nutrition in Emergencies Workshop

The Ministry of Health and Medical Education and UNICEF Iran joined forces to organize Nutrition in Emergencies Workshop from 9-11 November 2015 in the southern province of Kerman.

“In this three-day workshop, the operational planning for emergencies in terms of nutrition of children, the elderly, pregnant women, lactating mothers as well as promotion of nutrition of vulnerable people will be analyzed by the experts,” Dr. Nozar Nakhaei Health  Deputy of Kerman University of Medical Sciences said at the sideline of the workshop.   

He further referred to draught as the cause of 42 percent of deaths in the past 50 years all over the world.

Later Amirhossein Yarparvar UNICEF Iran Health and Nutrition Specialist noted that as breastfeeding is affected in emergencies, responsible authorities need to take good care of mothers and create a soothing and healthy environment for them.

“We do our utmost to ease access of the people to all food groups including cereals, fruits, vegetables, meat, milk and dairy products in emergencies,” Dr. Salehi, Nutrition Office Specialist of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education concluded.
