Protecting children, including their mental health, in natural disasters is of key importance and a top priority.
UNICEF Iran, in collaboration with the Youth Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society(IRCS), has supported multiple capacity-building programmes to enhance the efficacy of the psychosocial support workforce (SAHAR teams) in the provision of Child Protection in Emergencies.
In these photos, the IRCS’s SAHAR teams, trained by UNICEF, provide community-based psychosocial support to the most-affected children and families in the earthquake-affected areas of Khoy in West Azerbaijan Province.
