02 September 2020

In support of the Government response to the 2019-2020 floods, UNICEF Iran has procured 10 submersible pumps and their accessories, 30 horizontal pumps as well as 10 life-saver water purification machines funded by the Government of Japan.

These items, which were delivered to the Ministry of Energy, will be used in water and sewer system of the flood affected provinces of Sistan and Balouchistan, Lorestan, Golestan and Khouzestan.

Earlier in the year and as part of a joint cooperation with the Ministry of Energy, UNICEF Iran had procured a consignment of water pumps, with an approximate weight of 32 metric tons, containing several types of self-priming and submersible pumps for water and wastewater usage.

They were distributed among Water and Wastewater Companies of flood-prone provinces such as Lorestan, Khouzestan and Golestan as part of emergency preparedness capacity building.
