UNICEF and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Launch joint pilot project to empower adolescents and youths

In partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, UNICEF Iran with support from UNICEF Middle East & North Africa Regional Office and with funds from the Netherlands Government, launched the first round of Participatory Action Research(PAR) workshops on 28 Sept for young people as part of a pilot project to empower adolescents and youths. This virtual workshop, which was officially opened with remarks by Dr. Farshid Tahmasebi, Director General of International Affairs at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, aims to build the capacity of 24 young people aged 15 to 24 from three youth NGOs in Tehran, Karaj and Kermanshah to initiate and pilot the “Adolescent and Youth Empowerment” project for a duration of 18 months. The pilot programme, which includes skills training and social entrepreneurship programmes, will meaningfully engage vulnerable adolescent and youth, boys and girls, in deprived areas in the 3 cities and facilitate their transition from Learning to Earning.
