Nutrition capacity assessment in Indonesia
Indonesia suffers from high levels of undernutrition and growing rates of obesity. In response to these
challenges, UNICEF, the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) commissioned a nutrition capacity assessment.
The purpose of the assessment was “to examine the institutional arrangements and capacity of province and district government authorities to legislate, plan and manage the nutrition programme.” The assessment focused on stunting, reflecting the current political drive to reduce childhood stunting, and on the nutrition services provided through the health sector, which currently has the main responsibility for delivering the nutrition programme.
