The 2016 Situation Analysis on Children and Women in Guyana gives us a better understanding of the issues that children are facing in all 10 Regions of Guyana, so that we can ensure that we plan and budget effectively to make their lives better. This analysis will be extremely important in informing the UNICEF Guyana Country Programme for 2017-2021. Over the next five years, UNICEF will continue its partnership with the Government of Guyana to support National Strategic Plans and Programmes, with emphasis on equity, and on reaching the most vulnerable children and their families.




Earth Hour

On Saturday 19 March, 2016, more than two thousand people gathered at the Independence Square in Paramaribo, Suriname to celebrate Earth Hour and recommit to taking care of our planet for future generations.

Earth Hour is a global campaign to raise awareness on the effects of climate change.

This annual event has grown into a movement that culminates in an hour of inspiration across the world. This year’s event marked the tenth year of the campaign. The theme, 60+ represented the one hour of less energy being consumed to benefit the planet.
