The 5.9 magnitude earthquake that hit on 22 June has had a devastating impact on the children’s lives who are already bearing the brunt of severe drought, malnutrition and the ongoing effects of covid-19. Afghanistan is in the midst of one of the worst crises in human history.

How is UNICEF responding to children’s need in Afghanistan impacted by the earthquake?
UNICEF has dispatched several mobile health and nutrition teams to provide first aid to those who are injured. UNICEF is also distributing tents and tarpaulins, hygiene supplies including soap, detergent, towels, sanitary pads and water buckets, warm clothes, shoes, and blankets.
