Children and young people in Greece are daily victims of violence at home, in the wider community, online and in places where they be safe.
Nearly 1 in 4 children in Greece are affected by violence - psychological, physical, or sexual at home - in their communities, online and in places where they should be safe.
With the government and multiple partners, UNICEF designs and implements awareness, prevention, and response programmes to protect children and young people from all forms of violence.
Βecome a Champion for Children today and help all children in Greece spread their wings!
What we do
UNICEF works with the Greek authorities and partners to strengthen child protection systems and scale up quality protection and support services whilst addressing the barriers preventing children and women from seeking appropriate support.
The Greek Country Office helps collect and analyses comprehensive, up-to-date evidence on violence against children to assess the extent of the phenomenon in Greece and inform cross-cutting policies and strategies across social protection, education, and health systems.
At the same time, it focuses on raising awareness of sexual and gender-based violence and trafficking, which directly affect children and builds state capacities to implement gender-responsive services while promoting social and behavioural change to shift attitudes and practices.
