Serena Williams
UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2011

“I want to have an opportunity to help UNICEF make the world aware of challenges that children face.”
Serena Williams exemplifies courage, beauty, power and style, and has overcome insurmountable odds to win 23 career Grand Slams, the second-most singles titles of record.
Her remarkable tennis achievements, combined with her off-court success in fashion, philanthropy and business, make her one of the most recognizable icons in the world and a powerful voice for women. In 2019, Serena launched her own venture capital firm, Serena Ventures, which focuses on investing in companies that embrace diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity and opportunity. Her fashion brand, SERENA, celebrates body positivity and female empowerment.
Serena first teamed up with UNICEF in 2006 when she travelled to Ghana in support of the country’s biggest health campaign. Appointed a Goodwill Ambassador in 2011, Serena championed the UNICEF Schools for Africa initiative, providing education to the most marginalized and vulnerable children. Most recently, Serena supported the #EveryChildAlive campaign by advocating for affordable, quality health care for every mother and newborn. She also wrote a powerful op-ed for CNN, sharing her life-threatening experience after giving birth to daughter Olympia.
