Welcome to Voices from the Field where evaluation staff from UNICEF regional and country offices, and other partners share their experiences in evaluation.  This space seeks to promote learning from one another, share good practices and disseminate lessons learned.  Contributors discuss the challenges they faced, outcomes of their effort and innovations they introduced in evaluation.  It is envisaged that the experiences shared will help strengthen evaluation efforts globally.  The main audience for this space are evaluators, evaluation managers and commissioners of evaluation.

NEW: UNICEF leads the evaluation of the Turkmenistan National Nutrition Programme

Evaluation Leads to Call from Government of Turkmenistan for More Support.

The Ministry of Health in Turkmenistan has requested UNICEF and other UN agencies to support the end-term review of its current maternal, new-born, child and adolescent strategy for the period 2015-2019. The review will inform the new strategy for 2020-2030 and align it with SDG reporting. This follows the first-ever comprehensive evaluation of a government Programme in Turkmenistan, which found the UNICEF programme to be highly relevant to national nutrition priorities. The evaluation also established baselines for the next programme cycle. For more details on how the government of Turkmenistan is using evaluation evidence to improve programming, please see this interview with Siraj Mahmudlu and Aigul Nurgabilova from the Turkmenistan Country Office.
