About

Ensuring that children’s rights are adequately integrated in the text of the EU Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence and in the following implementation measures will ensure EU legislation aligns with international standards and EU policies, accelerate existing business practice to reach impact at scale for every child, and build on the existing business support for a strong Directive that integrates child rights.

UNICEF recommends for the trilogue negotiations to:

  1. Ensure that child rights risks are not overlooked in companies’ due diligence.
  2. Ensure that severe adverse impacts on children’s rights along the value chain are not excluded and access to justice for children is facilitated.
  3. Ensure that due diligence legislation is accompanied by a package of measures to support business and third countries to effectively address risks to children.
