UNICEF Eswatini promotes continuation of immunization during the lock down
Immunization services remain vital and it is critical to ensure that all children who are eligible and are due for vaccination are provided with this service in whatever way possible.
As we approach World Immnization week, UNICEF continues to support the Ministry of Health to continue to provide technical guidance and support to the Ministry of Health through the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) to ensure that children continue to enjoy their right to health.
Immunization services remain vital and it is critical to ensure that all children who are eligible and are due for vaccination are provided with this service in whatever way possible in order to prevent any possibility of outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases.
“UNICEF is maintaining very close communication with vaccine suppliers to ensure that production of vaccines is not disrupted, and supply logistics are managed in the best possible manner under the difficult circumstances as a result of COVID-19 emergency”
The country needs to maintain effective routine immunization services especially in health facilities but being cognizant of the COVID-19 prevention measures such as physical distancing of at least a meter apart, limiting group gatherings within the health facility to 20 people, frequent washing of hands with soap and water.

UNICEF will also support communication with mothers and care givers to encourage them to take children for routine immunization.
