Highlights

Sanitation and hygiene plays a pivotal role in both social and economic development of an individual, community and for the Nation. Increased access to improved sanitation and hygiene facilities and services contribute to the health and well-being of the population which in turn drive the nation’s economy. Eswatini’s overall development objectives and planning tools are driven by the National Development Strategy (NDS 2018) also known as Vision 2022. The Ministry of Health through the Environmental Health Department aims to achieve 100 per cent access to improved water and sanitation by 2023. To track progress made in water and sanitation, Eswatini subscribes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG #6 advocates for ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030.
