The effects of deprivation in childhood can be irreversible and the impact of child poverty can transcend generations. In addition, poverty is one of the root causes of violence and the exploitation, abuse and neglect of children, such as child labour, trafficking, sexual exploitation and child marriage.

This publication provides the most up-to-date, comprehensive assessment of the situation of children in Uganda. As such, it represents a unique resource to inform and enhance the design of national programmes affecting children.
