Political economy analysis
Uncovering the political and economic incentives that underlie policy and budgeting processes

UNICEF country offices in Eastern and Southern Africa conduct political economy analysis to uncover the political and economic incentives that underlie policy and budgeting processes.
Some of these exercises complement fiscal space analyses to help UNICEF identify specific entry points for advocating for more and better investments in child-focused sectors, while others are more general in nature to inform the overall strategic direction of UNICEF programmes.
