Our work

UNICEF has been present in Eritrea prior to the country’s independence. UNICEF’s current partnership with the Government through the 2013-2016 Country Programme focuses on equity and gender equality, targeting the hard-to-reach and most vulnerable children and women throughout the country.

Health and Nutrition

Aiming to fulfil the rights of children to health and nutrition by supporting the promotion and provision of quality preventive, curative and rehabilitative health and nutrition care services.

Education

Supporting the government to improve participation and retention rates in schools, with particular emphasis on equity and quality in basic education.

  

Child Protection

Supporting the government in protecting children by promoting policies and programmes that contribute to reducing disparities, harmful social norms, exploitation and violence.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Supporting the government to increase improved and safe access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, focusing on vulnerable groups including people in drought-prone areas and schools.
