CAIRO, 23 July, 2018 - H.E. Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation received Mr. Geert Cappelaere, UNICEF Middle East and North Africa Regional Director, during an official visit to Egypt. The meeting focused on the Government priority to intensify efforts in health, education and skills development.

Dr. Sahar Nasr acknowledged the excellent work of UNICEF and the continuous support offered by its team in Egypt, and urged for additional efforts to implement Egypt’s vision 2030.

“Egypt is committed to rapid investments in human development. We value our partnership with UNICEF towards our common goals to direct additional interventions to reach the most vulnerable families across the country”, said H.E. Dr. Sahar Nasr.

Mr. Geert Cappelaere, UNICEF Regional Director outlined that Egypt has made important progress for children. “I welcome the President’s strong commitment to transform the country further with children at the centre. Increased investment in health, nutrition, education and social protection will benefit even the most vulnerable boys and girls” said Mr. Cappelaere.

UNICEF is planning to launch in Sinai an integrated multi-sectoral development Programme, starting with a “Back to School campaign”.  The upcoming interventions will support primary health facilities, schools and community/youth centres, aiming to reach the most vulnerable.
