Decate of Action on Infant and Young Child Feeding in Europe and Central Asia

Highlights
During a conference on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) in Belgrade in 2019, 2020-2030 was recognized (regionally) as the Decade of Action on IYCF in Europe and Central Asia and will encourage that all countries in the region commit to actions.
The compilation of these country commitments will be used for routine programme monitoring for results. The strategic note is based on what was articulated, proposed and proclaimed during the conference given the concerning IYCF situation and especially breastfeeding in the region (one of the poorest globally), and the massive wave of child obesity, to achieve nutrition Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and other global nutrition commitments, it’s been critical that we accelerate our efforts to improve the feeding of Infants and young children in the region in the 10 remaining years until the 2030 SDG target.
