OneMinutesJr workshop in Moldova - Day 4

BALTI, Moldova, 29 May 2014 - Day 4 at the OneMinutesJr workshop in Balti and we have four more films to shoot and then all 13 to edit. But since we spent a lot of time on the film development, we're on track with everything and should get done in time for tomorrow's presentation.

Marius (15) is one of the participants at our workshop this week. He found it hard at the beginning of the week to come up with a topic for his film. There was something he wanted to share, but he didn't know how. So after a while of talking with him, we found out that he is suffering from a broken heart, something all teenagers face sooner or later. Some deal with it in a positive way, others go through tough times and some even fall for alcohol and drugs, especially when easily available to teens like here in Moldova.

During the second day we saw another participant, Denis (19), doing some great "ball-pen tattoos". Then it made "click" and after a bit more brainstorming we came up with the following scenario: A boy is getting a fake tattoo of a broken heart. Then we add a syringe, some alcohol and other evil things and finally he wakes up and the real vodka on the table is used to rub off the bad items from his arm. The message is clear: Don't let a broken heart get you down, at least not that far and stay clean at all times!

As if it was National Anti-Drug Day in Moldova today, we continue with another film against substance abuse. Petru wants to warn other young people from hanging out too much with older teenagers who can pull you into drinking and smoking. All four actors in the film, Petru and three other boys, do a really good job and it doesn't take long before we can wrap up the filming and return to the workshop venue.

And now: editing - UNICEF / Chris Schuepp / 2014

From now on, it's all editing, voice-overs and subtitling. Still a lot of work in front of us, but no doubt we will make it in time for the presentation.
