Highlights

UNICEF has undertaken an analysis of Euromonitor International data to examine trends in the volume and value of sales of four categories of highly processed food and drink: soft drinks, sweet snacks, savoury snacks, and milk formula. Transactions and value of sales were also analysed for services associated with sale of highly processed products: fast food outlets, street kiosks, and cafés and bars. The findings demonstrate a lack of strong regulation in place to control promotion and sales of highly processed products with recommendations as to how policies can be strengthened.
