Highlights

Gender-based violence (GBV) is the most pervasive yet least visible public health issues and human rights violation in the world. UNICEF’s commitment to addressing GBV in emergencies lies at the heart of the agency’s mandate to protect the safety, health, and well-being of children and women. UNICEF WASH sections and their partners can primarily contribute by mitigating risks of GBV arising from WASH services. This brief note includes WASH sector commitments and the types of actions that we can take to mitigate GBV risks in WASH programming.
