Fix My Food!
Join the movement to become an advocate for a healthier food environment in East Asia and the Pacific
The East Asia and Pacific region is known for its vibrant and colourful dishes, bursting with flavour and full of fresh and healthy ingredients. The variety of dishes from the region - all equally delicious and beautiful - is a real treasure.
Sadly, children today are growing up in an environment where traditional diets based on nutritious and fresh foods are increasingly being replaced with highly processed ‘junk’ foods and drinks. At the same time, fresh food markets are closing and nutritious food is often unaffordable or unavailable.
Because ‘junk’ foods and drinks are high in sugar, salt and unhealthy fats, but low in essential nutrients like vitamins and minerals, this shift has a devastating impact on children’s health and well-being. Undernutrition persists in the region, and at the same time childhood overweight and obesity is rising faster than in any other region of the world.
UNICEF aims to start reversing this trend, by making sure that healthy and nutritious food is widely available, affordable, and appealing. It’s absolutely necessary to protect every child’s health, happiness and well-being.
We need your support to #FixMyFood
The ‘Fix My Food’ initiative aims to bring together young people, influencers, celebrities, and food entrepreneurs in the region who are committed to mobilize support and action for a better food environment. You can read more about the Fix My Food workshop and launch event in this summary report.
With your support, UNICEF will keep on working with governments and partners to identify actions that can help meet the right of every child to healthy food, and introduce new policies that fight off the increase in sales and marketing of unhealthy foods and drinks.
Together, we can raise our voice and increase access to healthy and affordable food. That’s why we invite you, your friends, and family to join the “Fix My Food” movement to make the food environment healthier and more accessible for every child and every young person in East Asia and the Pacific.
