UNICEF Serbia’s Activities within the European Immunization Week.
1. UNICEF's Representative Ms. Judita Reichenberg will make a presentation on the "Realisation of Child Rights and Rights on Health Care of Marginalised Children" at the National Conference on "Availability of Immunisation in Serbia" organised by the Serbian Ministry of Health and the Institute of Public Health (IPH) of Serbia on 22 April.
2. UNICEF will provide the much needed cold chain equipment to health institutions across Serbia. The equipment was procured upon the assessment of the existing equipment for maintaining cold chain in health centres conducted by the Institute of Public Health of Serbia which indicated that most of the immunisation points either have no refrigerators or the refrigerators are very old.
As part of UNICEF’s assistance to the immunisation programme in Serbia, and thanks to the generous donation of the Government of Japan amounting to US$ 351,000, UNICEF has procured 300 refrigerators, 700 cold boxes and vaccine carriers as well as accompanying accessories. The equipment will be distributed to all 200 health institutions in the country. This equipment will help improve cold chain system and thus quality of immunisation services in the country.
A hand-over ceremony of cold chain equipment to the IPH of Serbia will be held on 23 April with the participation of the Ministry of Health representatives, IPH Director and the Japanese Ambassador.
