High-level Conference on Child Rights Policies: EU, Council of Europe, Croatia

ZAGREB, 28 November 2012 - Under the auspices of Government of Croatia, Ombudsperson for Children, UNICEF and Coordination of NGOs for Children jointly organised high level conference Policies for Children: EU, Council of Europe and Croatia at the Croatian Parliament on 27 November 2012.

Paul Vandoren, Head of the EU Delegation in Croatia presented the highlights of The EU Agenda for the Rights of the Child as well as opportunities for CSOs and government arising from full membership, including the access to the DAPHNE programme, which supports projects for  prevention and combat of  violence against children, young people and women and protections of victims and groups at risk.

Member of the Croatian Parliament Delegation to the Council of Europe Assembly Igor Kolman presented the new CoE Strategy for the Rights of the Child

During the conference, gathering experts, NGOs, parliamentarians and decision makers, constructive discussion unfolded about local strategies and policies to improve the health, education and social welfare of children in Croatia.

It was concluded that this is the right moment for drafting and adopting the new National Action Plan for Children, which should take into account the presented strategies and policies as well as Situation Analysis.
