OneMinutesJr workshop in Bulgaria - Day 3
STARA ZAGORA, Bulgaria, 31 August 2011 - On the third day of the OneMinutesJr workshop in Bulgaria, we have to be out filming all day. Today alone we have almost 10 films on the agenda.
Stefan (13) has told us a story that we found hard to believe. Some of his friends were recently chased by a man with a chainsaw here in the Roma mahala. The chainsaw attack was the retaliation for some minor tricks the teenagers played on the man, but the result was that the young boys are now scared. They have understood that they did something wrong, but they also think that the man with the chainsaw went a step to far. So now Stefan wants to produce a film about the incident with the moral "Children must behave themselves, adults, too!".
Dochka (14) puts the make-up on to act as a drug addict in the afternoon. Together with her camera crew she goes looking for a "nice" spot in the mahala where she can pretend to be a junkie. She wants to shock with this film and urge young people to say no to drugs. Seing her through the camera lens is one thing, but the black & white effects in the editing will make it look even more shocking.
Rosalinda is too young to think about drugs and other things that are on the teenagers' minds. She is only 9 years old and attends the 3rd grade in the Roma school here in Losinets. She likes to play with kindergarten kids in the afternoon and says: "I like the younger kids better than the older ones. They are more fun, always happy and they don't laugh about others or play nasty games."
In the end, we manage to film nine films on this third day of the workshop and only need another three tomorrow before e can start the editing process.
