Highlights

The UNICEF Cameroon SBC Newsletter (June–August 2025) highlights transformative initiatives across the country that amplify community voices and empower adolescent girls. A key feature of this edition is the Girls’ Movement Caravan, which reached over 5,600 girls in 36 locations, providing them with a platform to share their challenges and aspirations. This movement inspired commitments from 421 community leaders and laid the groundwork for a National Girls’ Summit scheduled for November.

Cameroon has also become a continental leader by establishing Child Rights Centers (CRCs) in six universities, connecting academic research with local governance. The newsletter reports progress in Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), with over 13,000 feedback entries collected, along with innovative solutions like QR-coded flyers that allow for real-time community input.

Efforts to end child marriage, in collaboration with KOICA and local leaders, are transforming cultural norms in the Adamawa and East regions. The Child-Friendly Municipalities (CFM) model is expanding, integrating child rights into local policies with support from universities. Additionally, inspiring stories of grassroots leadership—from imams to community champions—illustrate how local actors are driving meaningful change in health, education, and protection.
