To Become a Young Man

The “To Become a Young Man” booklet was developed and released by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in 2015 with support from Kampuchean Action for Primary Education (KAPE), UNICEF and UNFPA.

This booklet is a guide for Cambodian boys on the topic of puberty, including body changes and other issues they will face as they transition into adolescence. It aims to help them feel more comfortable with this transition, and learn to manage themselves to grow into healthy young men.

It also introduces boys to the physical changes girls will experience during puberty so that they can learn to respect each other.

The booklet disproves many common myths related to this subject and instead presents the facts. It can, therefore, play an essential role in helping parents, teachers, and other adults feel more comfortable discussing the issues around puberty with boys.
