Action Plan to Prevent and Respond to Violence Against Children

The ‘Action Plan to Prevent and Respond to Violence Against Children 2017-2021’ was launched by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY) on 11 December 2017.

The Action Plan sets the roles and responsibilities, and activities to be carried out by various agencies, governmental and non-governmental, and includes five key areas of interventions across the sectors of health, social welfare, education and justice at national, provincial, district and community levels. It is hoped that through implementing the Action Plan, the national child protection system in Cambodia will be strengthened and children who have experienced violence, exploitation and abuse will receive the care and support they need.

The Steering Committee on Violence Against Women and Violence Against Children, comprising 13 ministries and government agencies, coordinated the development of the Action Plan, with UNICEF’s support and through the participation of sub-national actors, NGOs, and youths themselves.
