Positive Parenting Strategy

The ‘Positive Parenting Strategy’, together with toolkits, was launched by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) on 4 December 2017.

The Strategy aims to help prevent and reduce violence against children as well as keep families together by promoting positive parenting, and increasing access to appropriate and timely parenting support. It also serves as guidance for governmental and non-governmental actors working with children and families towards more coordinated and quality support for parents and caregivers.

In collaboration with eight other ministries, MoWA will implement the Strategy with toolkits in five priority provinces (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, Preah Sihanouk and Kandal) and highly-disadvantaged communities in the Northeast. This is also a part of the costed inter-ministerial ‘Action Plan to Prevent and Respond to Violence Against Children 2017-2022’.

The strategy was developed with support from UNICEF and in collaboration with Save the Children, Social Services of Cambodia, Royal University of Phnom Penh and Improving Cambodia's Society through Skillful Parenting (ICS-SP).
